Fun picnic to meet and greet athletes and coaches.
MARQUETTE -- This Saturday marks the home opener for the NMU Wildcats' football team.
To celebrate, a fall sports kickoff party will be held at the Superior Dome. This is the third year NMU has hosted the party, and it has won a national award for community involvement.
Fans can enjoy free food and activities including pony rides, a dunk tank, and meeting Wildcat Willie. For organizers, it's a great way to promote athletics.
"What we want to do is just have people down and socialize and get to know our student athletes, our coaches, and get to know one other. I think there's a need for that nowadays," says Athletic Director Ken Godfrey.
The party will run this Saturday, rain or shine, from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. at the Dome.
