Fair attendance was lower than in past years.

SANDS TOWNSHIP -- Another Marquette County Fair comes to an end, but there were plenty of people on hand to enjoy the last day of the food, rides, and activities.

The four-day operation was a success, however, attendance was down this year.

Organizers don't place all the blame on the economy, they say the weather also may have had something to do with less people coming to the fairgrounds.

Preliminary numbers show attendance was down about 10 percent compared to last year, although the less-than-desired traffic didn't seem to affect revenue for some vendors.

"We had the Animal Market and last year they brought in $43,000 worth of sales," says president Chuck Bergdahl of the Marquette County Fair.  "This year, they brought in $45,000 worth of sales."

Believe it or not, says Bergdahl, planning for next year's fair has already begun.
