Neighborhoods plan activities for National Night Out events.
MARQUETTE -- It was all about getting to your know your neighbors at Saturday's National Night Out celebration in Marquette.
It was the first night in the series of weeklong events encouraging residents to spend the evening outdoors with neighbors.
This event also kicked off the start of the two week Eat Local Challenge, which encourages community members to incorporate as much locally-produced food as possible into their diets.
Children and families could enjoy food, music, and crafts.
"I think that it's just a really great way for the community to come together," said Sarah Monte. "National Night Out is all about being able to celebrate the safety of your neighborhood and your town."
National Night Out will also be held in Republic, Ishpeming, and Negaunee later in the week.
