MARQUETTE COUNTY -- Senior citizens in Marquette County can once again receive free health screenings this summer.

The Marquette County Health Department held one of their first of the season recently at the Marquette Senior Center.  Anyone over the age of 60 was welcome to come in and receive a series of general health tests, like blood pressure and cholesterol.  Officials say it's important for senior citizens to get yearly health checks.

"We typically find some health issues that we can refer them to a physician while the problem is still a minor issue, and it's important for people no matter what their age to take good care of your own health, and we can provide people with some real good health information and let them know how they're doing health wise," said Community Health Director, George Sedlacek.

The next senior screening will take place at the Negaunee Senior Center on June 24 and 25.
