MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Farmer's and Artist's Market kicked off Saturday afternoon at the Marquette Commons.  The market will be open every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., now through December 19.

Buyers can purchase breads, candies, soaps, and plants for the garden.  But the produce is the main focus of the market.  And this year, educational classes will be held to teach others about various products found at the market.

"We're going to have a beekeeping workshop, sort of a beekeeping 101; we're going to have a baby food making class, we are going to have some kind of pie or pastry making class once the berry season gets going," said Market Master, Sarah Monte.

The Farmer's Market will host a special opening party on June 27 featuring face painting and portraits.
