MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- Work is underway on the Wright Street extension project in Marquette Township.

Three weeks ago, crews started clearing trees for the $600,000 project, which will connect Wright Street by Forestville Road to the Target stoplight.

The newly constructed road will be six-tenths of a mile.

"We're going to tie the road just south of the Forestville intersection and we'll be teeing in the south part of Wright Street into the new road about where North Star Academy is, just north of North Star Academy," said Jim Iwanicki with the Marquette Road Commission.

The project is expected to be completed in August.

Iwanicki says during the last month of construction, traffic will be detoured through Commerce Drive.
