Travel agent says bargains are out there.
HOUGHTON -- A declining economy is making spring break and summer vacations the cheapest they've been in five years.
That's what agents at Travel Leaders, formerly Carlson Travel in Houghton, say.
They point out that hot spots like Las Vegas and Mexico are throwing in extras such as free show tickets and free breakfasts in hotels.
And for families who want to get away to Disney World, that venue is offering three free nights if you pay for four.
"It's been such a hard winter, a lot of snow," says owner Kiersten Waara. "So we have a lot of people traveling down to Mexico, a lot of people headed to Florida. The price is so good, and that's what's drawing them in, too, because these are the best prices we've seen in five years."
Waara says the agency, despite the economy, is just as busy as it was last winter.
