Flames engulf a Thompson business

Authorities say Thompson Outpost is a total loss.

THOMPSON -- A Thompson business is a total loss after an early morning fire on Saturday.

According to troopers from the Manistique State Police Post, the Thompson Outpost convenience store on US-2 was reported to be engulfed in flames at around 4 a.m.

The building was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.

The Michigan State Police Fire Marshall has been contacted, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
