Judge lectures him for his involvement with drugs.
ESCANABA -- An Escanaba man will be spending at least the next couple of years in prison on drug prescription charges.
Forty-eight-year-old Michael Wellman was given a sentence of 23 months to seven years in prison.
He was arrested back in October for possession with intent to deliver controlled substances such as vicodin and suboxone, and one count of delivery of suboxone. He pled guilty to all counts last month.
"You were a drug dealer for profit and you had not taken any steps to stop selling drugs," Judge Stephen Davis told Wellman in Delta County Circuit Court Friday. "As I look back on your record, you've had 25 years of involvement in the sale of drugs."
Wellman will be credited with 92 days already spent in the Delta County Jail.
