HOUGHTON -- Stores in the Copper Country Mall continue to close, with one this month and three more slated for January.  This coming after stores closed this fall, including Footlocker, Steve and Barry's, and Maurice's.  Maurice's relocated across Houghton.

Developers Diversified Realty, the investment group in Cincinatti that owns the mall, failed to return a call from TV6.

Locally owned, Nite Light Magic is open through Wednesday and B. Dalton, Bath and Body Works, and Cottage Jewelers are all closing in January.

"It's a sad situation," says Joilyn Riutta.  "I'm sure there's going to be people losing their jobs, as to what they've been working for, along with just have the offering of different businesses in the Copper Country."

Of the roughly 33 available spaces in the mall, 17 were empty when we checked Tuesday, not including the four that are set to close their doors.
