Ishpeming students fill in with Christmas joy.

MARQUETTE -- The courthouse can be a stressful place for just about anyone, and that's why Ishpeming kids tried to bring them some holiday cheer Wednesday.

Violinists played classic Christmas songs on the steps inside the Marquette County Courthouse.  Twenty-eight kids from the Ishpeming String Program took time after school and during lunch to practice for the day's performance.

“I like to play the violin because it is wonderful, it sounds great, and it is one of my hobbies,” said fourth grade violinist, Isaac Lazenby.

“It’s fun learning new songs and getting to learn new friends and how to play it--the violin.  Because it's fun to practice and it's a hobby that can last for a lifetime,” added third grade violinist, Bailey Hubbs.

The Ishpeming strings are made up of kids from third to seventh grades and attend either Birchview Elementary or C.L. Phelps Middle School.
