Paul Pouttu of Hancock led police on a high speed chase near Bark River.

BARK RIVER -- The Hancock man accused of leading authorities on a high speed chase outside Bark River early Sunday morning, could face jail time.

Twenty-four-year-old Paul Pouttu was charged with fleeing and eluding police and driving while intoxicated.

Pouttu was arraigned in Delta County District Court Wednesday morning.

Troopers from the Gladstone Post reported seeing the vehicle traveling close to 90 miles per hour.  After trying to stop the vehicle, authorities chased the car for about a mile and a half on US-2.  Pouttu then lost control and went into ditch, striking several trees.

Pouttu's preliminary hearing is December 18.
