United Methodist Church is asking for donations for the hungry.
GLADSTONE -- A church in Gladstone is doing its part to help fill stomachs this Thanksgiving holiday.
The Memorial United Methodist Church is collecting venison from willing hunters to donate to the hungry.
The church has hosted this event for over 16 years.
Hunters willing to donate can take their deer to either Viau's Supermarket in Escanaba or Soderman's Meat Processing in Brampton Township.
Last year they were able to get over 350 pounds of venison.
"The church pays for any processing and then the delivery of the deer to both local and the food pantries in Detroit and Flint," said Reverend Jackie Ross with the United Methodist Church.
Their first shipment out will be on Sunday. Then they'll continue to collect venison through January.
