MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- A brush fire that scorched two acres in Marquette County is under investigation.

Firefighters were called to Wetmore trailhead off of County Road 550 in Marquette Township just after 3 p.m. Saturday.

Two hikers reported seeing a fire burning from afar on Friday afternoon, but thought it was campers.  When they returned on Saturday, they found a blaze and smoldering brush.

Firefighters used bags of water and fire suppression tools to stamp out hot spots.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
