Northern working with WMU, UPSHA to hear from experts
MARQUETTE -- Thanks to the Internet, Northern Michigan University is able to take part in a conference taking place hundreds of miles away.
Experts on autism spectrum disorders are speaking at the 26th Annual Van Riper Lectures hosted by Western Michigan University.
Using live webcasting technology, the lectures are captured and broadcast over the Internet to NMU's Mead Auditorium.
The Upper Peninsula Speech-Language and Hearing Association, or UPSHA, is cosponsoring the live stream.
"We've been able to connect to a conference that's hundreds of miles away via Internet stream," said Jim Zeigler, UPSHA President. "The entire U.P., all of the intermediate school districts in the U.P., are connected to this right now, and they're all watching and viewing and continuing education units."
The lectures will end on Oct. 31.
