L'ANSE -- The Bay Area Chorus held their winter concert at Sacred Heart Church in L'Anse Sunday.

The choir sang the entire first part of George Frederic Handel's Messiah and the famous Hallelujah chorus from part two. They also sang several traditional Christmas songs to start the concert.

Dozens packed the pews for the performance. The concert was free, but the church asked for donations.

The choir spent months preparing for their "Messiah" performance.

"A lot of work, a lot of dedicated, talented people really makes for an awesome show," said Eric Erickson, choir director.

The Bay Area Chorus is based in L'Anse but has around 30 voices from the surrounding area.

They welcome singers of all ages and skill levels to join.
