CALUMET -- The Keweenaw National Historical Park is looking for artifacts for its new interpretive exhibit on Calumet's rich copper mining history.
The park service is looking for personal artifacts. They're also interested in collecting more photographs of events or functions that took place in the union building. That's where the 4,000 square foot exhibit will eventually be displayed.
Currently, crews are working to repair years of water damage to the windows and walls.
"We're really excited about the project," says Brian Hoduski of Museum and Archival Services. "The National Park service has been working on it for a long time, and it's going to bring something to publicize that we're really excited to share with them."
A more specific list of desired artifacts is available on the park's website.
The exhibit is expected to open in 2011.
