MARQUETTE -- Around 1,500 people came to the Marquette YMCA with an appetite Sunday.

It was for Rotary Club of Marquette's 37th Annual Pancake Breakfast, held yearly on Super Bowl Sunday. The Rotarians said over 3,000 pounds of pancake mix was used for the event, and the breakfast brings in around $12,000.

All of the money raised from the event will be used to help the community.

"I think it's really interesting that that happens...that we get to have a pancake breakfast and the money for that goes to help other people," said Danielle Jahnke, attendee.

"I really like to come to these events so I can eat pancakes, and they're really good," said Nick Finco, attendee.

Over 100 Rotarians and their families, plus Boy Scouts and Northern Michigan University cheerleaders, volunteered to help during the event.
