IRON MOUNTAIN -- Today is Fat Tuesday, and that means it was time for people to load up on paczkis.  Traditionally, the paczki was loaded up with everything the maker had available to maximize the amount of calorie intake before Ash Wednesday.  The Polish pastry is a favorite before Lent, and The Bakery Shoppe in Iron Mountain was having trouble keeping them on the shelves.

“We sold so many today that I'm actually exhausted right now, but we're still pumping away,” said Mary Ninomiya. “I don't have very many left; I probably have about five or six dozen left.”

An official from The Bakery Shoppe said that this was one of their favorite days of the year.  They were sold out of paczkis by 2 p.m. today.
