SANDS TOWNSHIP -- Around 20 people braved the below zero temperatures to participate in an annual snowshoe race.

The Teaching Family Homes (TFH) of Upper Michigan put on the fourth Annual Jack Rabbit Snowshoe Challenge.

Snowshoers had the opportunity to choose between the 10K, 5K, and 1K race. The race followed the groomed trails around campus.

Students from the school and people from around the community were invited to participate in the race.

"I like to be able to hang out with friends, the chance to hang out with kids my own age, and go to a public school and have fun a lot," said Justin Tant, youth member from TFH.

TFH is a group home which aims to give its students life skills. The home also wants to make sure students become productive members of society.

The money raised from the snowshoe race will help fund events held on campus.
