Ski Brule of Iron River gives sports enthusiasts the opportunity to wallow in the snow early

IRON RIVER -- Some of us may get winter blues while others get anxious to engage in winter sports.

Ski Brule of Iron River gives sports enthusiasts the opportunity to wallow in the snow season early.

"Since snowmaking has been available, Ski Brule's been pumping out the snow," says Ski Brule's manager Jessica Polich. "We've been dedicated to being the first to open and the last to close for over 35 years now, and we're looking forward to a nice, long snow season."

Sport fanatics share the same enjoyment and traveled from all over for Friday's opening day.

"I just decided the hour-and-a-half drive was not too far to go to Ski Brule," says Northern Michigan University student, Coleman Wilson.

The best part of Ski Brule's opening day for these eager skiers and snowboarders? It was all free.

Molly Britz also attends NMU with Wilson and tells me she's "a poor college kid," and the only thing she paid for "is gas and food."
