MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Police Department sent out an announcement Monday, regarding the start date of the 2012 winter parking ban.

Captain Blake Rieboldt would like to remind residents, Northern Michigan University students, and visitors that the winter parking ban will begin on November 1. During the ban, vehicle owners will need to find off-street parking between 1 and 6 a.m. each night.

The fine for violating the winter parking ban is $50, according to Rieboldt. If you fail to pay the ticket for 14 days the price will rise to $55.

The winter parking ban is scheduled to last until April 1, 2013.
