MANISTIQUE -- Manistique Public Safety officials are warning the public of unauthorized solicitors in the Manistique area.

The Manistique Public Safety Department received a call on Thursday of strangers going door-to-door attempting to sell some type of service from Just Energy Company and also claiming to be from Semco Gas Company. The information is false, and authorities stated that no permits to solicit have been issued this year in Manistique.

Police said that two individuals have been witnessed performing the unauthorized solicitation, including a Caucasian man and an African American man.

Soliciting without a permit is a misdemeanor crime, and officials said that you should contact 911 immediately if you are approached by solicitors in Manistique.
