Man convicted of sex crime

ALGER COUNTY -- An Alger County man has been sentenced to prison for a crime dating back several years.

According to the Michigan State Police, 29-year-old William Leffel of Munising was arrested in July of 2011.  He was charged with two counts criminal sexual conduct, for an incident that allegedly occurred in 2008.

On Thursday, Leffel was sentenced to one count of second degree criminal sexual conduct in Alger County Circuit Court.  He was given three to fifteen years in prison.

After his sentence, he must register on the sex offender registry.
