MARQUETTE -- Prior to the County Board meeting Tuesday, a special work session was held to review data that took a closer look at county employee salaries and staffing.  The report used data compiled from budget, staffing, and salary numbers and compared Marquette County to similar counties in Michigan.  The report concluded that county employees' pay and benefits are in line with the rest of the market.

"I think, taken in total, the report shows that staffing, budget pay and benefits align really well to the comparable market, especially given the geographic size of Marquette County and some of the challenges that presents," said Heather Van Poucker of the Michigan Municipal League.

The presentation was only a draft of what will be the final report.  The board will be presented with the final version of the report in the coming weeks.
