SENEY WILDLIFE REFUGE -- Crews are on the scene of a wildfire in the Seney Wildlife Refuge.

According to the U.S. Department of the Interior, the fire is south of M-28, west of M-77, and just north of the fishing loop located on the Refuge.

This fire was discovered Monday. It is believed to have been started by lightning on Sunday. By Monday evening, it had scorched roughly 600 acres.

Crews have fired off the north perimeter of the fire using Holland Ditch as a fire break. The south end is against a Refuge pool system and roads. Firefighters plan on containing the blaze on the west side by Pine Creek Road.

Three amphibious tracked engine crews, three type 6 engine crews, and brush trucks are all battling the fire.

No structures are threatened at this time.
