ISHPEMING -- In Ishpeming the holiday meal was served up by the Elks Club.

Area residents were dining in or having their turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and extras delivered.  Over 75 deliveries were done this year, an increase over last year.

The Elks had help in putting on the dinner.  A $1,000 grant, donations from Jilbert Dairy and Dr. Hooper, plus volunteers made the meal possible.

The community Christmas dinner is a chance for family, friends and relatives to come together on this special day.

"We're all friends, and it's a great way to spend Christmas together. We're being treated well here.  Each of us has a server, and a lot of us are unable to cook our own meals.  So we're very grateful to have a place to come," said Mary Goloversic of Ishpeming.

Those putting on the dinner say, if you were alone for the holiday, you were among friends at the Ishpeming Elks Club.
