MARQUETTE -- The city of Marquette has a new mayor, John DePetro, who was elected by the city's commission Tuesday night. DePetro replaces John Kivela, who was recently elected as the State Representative for the 109th district. The commission also welcomed two new members. Sarah Cambensy and former Marquette Mayor Mike Coyne were sworn in and took their seats on the commission. The new mayor talked about the city's biggest challenges ahead.

"The uncertainty, from the federal and state level, everybody's really being careful about their fiscal spending, and at this point, it looks like we're going to just be able to stay right on focus with what we had planned for 2013," said Marquette Mayor John DePetro.

DePetro also says he's excited to work with the new members of the commission. He said the first order of business is to sit down with the rest of the commission and discuss the city's budget.
