MARQUETTE -- A small crowd gathered at the Peter White Public Library for the monthly Big Water Community Sing on Sunday.

It was a small crowd, but the event is known to attract 50 to 70 people. Singers of all ages and abilities sing songs from the book "Rise Up Singing." Visitors are encouraged to bring their own copy, but there are some to share. Songs include Broadway, gospel, and everything in between. This is Kitty Hendrick's second time coming to the community sing.

"Singing is part of our heritage. Every country sings, all people sing. You learn about your past. You learn about what life was like. And besides, it's very healthy," said Hendrick.

The next Big Water Community Sing will be on Sunday April 14.
