ESCANABA -- Start sharpening your skates and passing the puck around the ice. That's right, it's time for Pond Hockey!

This weekend, Pond Hockey Tournaments will be taking place at Ludington Park in Escanaba.

Tournament Director Brent Krutina said, "We have several teams that are coming to play here this weekend. There's, I think, nine or ten teams coming from downstate, so it's real exciting for them."

The first tournament will start at 4p.m. on Friday. More games will take place throughout Saturday and Sunday. Championship games will start early Sunday afternoon.

Food vendors, warming tents with raffle items, bonfires, and a beer tent will run along the shoreline overlooking the event.

This event is free to the public and is put on by the Escanaba Area Junior Hockey Association's Fundraising Committee.
