MARQUETTE -- Middle school students and one Northern Michigan University fraternity have banded together to support the Marquette Police Department.
Bothwell Middle School and NMU's chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity each held events to raise money to fight drugs in the Marquette area and to support the K-9 unit.
Bothwell raised more than $2100 with a penny war between its students.
The Teeks raised about $600 with their annual tub push, an event that involves fraternity members pushing a bathtub on wheels from Sault Saint Marie to Marquette.
Friday, they presented the check for a total of $2700 to Sergeant Munger of the Marquette Police Department.
"I just want to thank the public for everything they've given us to help us out. Words can't describe it. The support is awesome," said Sgt. Mathias Munger, Marquette Police Department.
The police dog, Frodo, also made an appearance to say thank you.
