MARQUETTE -- Northern Michigan University offered a five-hour class and gave advice to women interested in running for office. One of the guest speakers was Marquette Probate Judge Cheryl Hill.

Judge Hill told the women that it is important to help other people get elected to understand the campaign process. She also told the women that you cannot be afraid to talk to people if you want their vote.

Women in the audience also got a chance to ask questions.

This was the third year for the Elect Her-Campus Women Win event.

"I've always been a little interested in politics, but it's really hard to stay motivated in such a competitive field and feel like, especially as a woman, there's a place for you. So I'm really excited about today," said Nicole Bowers, NMU student.
