MUNISING --

Skiers and snowshoers competed at the Valley Spur Ski and Recreation Area in Munising Saturday.

It was the 7th annual Snowman Duathlon. Cross country skiers raced for 10 kilometers and would then switch to snowshoes for an additional three kilometers. They could compete as individuals or as pairs. This is normally a small event and only 13 people raced this year. Lisa Harger-Nelson and her husband have raced all seven years.

"It's a fun day, and we're out here with friends that we're usually skiing with. It's just more of a fun day, don't worry so much about a time or beating someone," said Harger-Nelson.

The winner finished in just under an hour. This is the Friends of Valley Spur's last event of the season.
