MUNISING -- With over 20 pounds of donated ground beef, chili was the food of choice in Munising on Sunday.

The Alger County Animal Shelter held their annual chili fest.

The shelter also offered nachos, hot dogs, and dessert. The fundraising event has been going on for the past 12 years.

"We do fundraising all year long. This is our biggest fundraiser and we raise about $3000 with this event alone," said Kathy Glish, Alger County Animal Shelter manager.

The shelter says they use the money for veterinary care of the animals.

The animal shelter hopes to raise enough money to add a fence around their facility.
