TRAVERSE CITY -- It was surprisingly full at the Grand Traverse West End Beach Tuesday afternoon, as nearly 30 people stripped down to their swimsuits and ran into the icy water.

The group refers to themselves as "Crazy Times Ten."  A group of people from the Grand Traverse area, of all ages, getting together to do crazy things.

"We're all a bunch of crazy mountain bikers, road cyclists, runner, tri-athletes, and we like to push ourselves," said group chief, Joel Goff. "So I guess this is just one other way we decide to push the limits."

Nearly 35 people gathered at the beach on New Years Day, to run into the estimated 32 degree water.

The group challenges themselves to go for a swim once a month for 12 months, Officials tell 7 & 4 News that this is the third year for their annual chilly event.
