IRONWOOD -- Word is out that the State of Michigan is forcibly closing an Upper Peninsula nursing home, according to the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
The nursing home is Josephson Nursing Home on Ayers Street in Ironwood. The home was opened in 1961 by Ragner Josephson.
A special team from the state is en route to the facility at this time to shut it down. The main issue with the Josephson Nursing Home is financial. They have no licensed administrator, cannot meet payroll, and have not been paying vendors or their utilities.
This also means some of the services needed by the residents have not been provided. There are 24 residents currently at Josephson.
At this time, arrangements are still being made with residents to place them at other homes or with their families.
