UNALAKLEET, AK -- An Upper Peninsula musher is holding his own in this year's Iditarod.

As of Monday morning, Ed Stielstra of McMillan was in 29th place.  He had checked in to Kaltag and was on his way to Unalakleet, Alaska.

The race began March 4 in Anchorage with 66 teams. So far, nine teams have dropped.  Forty-one-year-old Aliy Zirkle of Two Rivers, Alaska is in the lead.  If she wins, Zirkle will become the first female champion in 20 years.
