MARQUETTE -- On Saturday, kids got a chance to step behind a dog sled and become a musher for the day. The mini mushers were pulled by local family pets down a 100 foot trail.

Once the dogs were hooked onto the sled, kids held on tight and headed down the chute. But some of the dogs needed a little help from their owners to make it across the finish line.

"I got a chance to ride the sled and it was really fun," said Anna Stewart, mini musher.

The Kiddie Mutt Race is put on by the Kiwanis Club of Marquette. The club says most of the money they raise goes back into programs that help children within the community. The club also says their traditional Kiddie Mutt Race is all about kids having fun.
