ESCANABA -- There are a lot of winter activities to try in the Upper Peninsula, and showshoeing is now easier than ever, thanks to a free program provided by the Public Health Clinic of Delta and Menominee counties.

They're offering a free snowshoe rental program called Snow Trek. You can check out the snowshoes at no cost at the Public Health Department, the Escanaba Civic Center, or the City of Menominee Parks and Recreation Department.

Officials say the program was launched in December.

"Snowshoeing is really an activity that anybody of any size or age can participate in," said health educator Kristi Steger. "So we're just really excited to get the word out about Snow Trek."

For more information on Snow Trek, call the Public Health Department at (906) 786-4111.
