HOUGHTON -- Michigan Tech offered a free hockey class for students Thursday evening.
Hockey 101 was designed specifically with international students in mind. An explanation of how the game is played was given by Michigan Tech hockey players.
The players explained the rules and terms of the game. The class was free to anyone who was interested. Each attendee was given a free Huskies t-shirt and ticket to Friday's game against Bemidji State.
For students taking the class, learning about hockey was a significant step in feeling like part of the U.P.
"It's totally new because, in China, we do not have much ice players and ice games around because we do not have much snow there. So it's totally cool," said MTU grad student, Yawei of China.
Friday night's game against Bemidji State will start at 7 p.m.
