ESCANABA -- A 23-year-old Escanaba man, charged with assault with intent to rob while armed, was bound over to circuit court Thursday.

Scott Allen Wahl had his preliminary hearing Thursday morning in Delta County District Court. He and another Escanaba man are accused of assaulting a 41-year-old Bark River man in Gladstone on Wednesday

That man testified and told the prosecutor that he was struck in the back of the head with an ice tea bottle. The victim said he thought he was going to be killed.

"I think I went down pretty quick.  I got hit, staggered a little, got hit, then I was down.  And at that point is when the kicks happened and they went through the pockets," said the victim.

Wahl's charge carries a maximum punishment of life in prison.  No date has been scheduled for his appearance in circuit court.
