Strong winds and heavy snow will create blizzard-like condtions.
Already on Monday night, parts of Upper Michigan received around two to five inches of snow. A winter storm continues to develop across the Great Lakes region on Tuesday morning. This will create heavy, blowing, drifting snow on roadways, making conditions rather hazardous for travelers.
On Tuesday morning, the low will bring widespread snow across north and east Upper Michigan through Tuesday morning. Then, as the low slowly moves away, colder air will rush across Lake Superior on strong north and northwest winds. This will bring significant lake-enhanced snow to northern Upper Michigan.
Frequent wind gusts, over 40 mph, will create blizzard-like conditions. This means considerable blowing snow, reducing visibility to less than a quater-mile, at times. Through Wednesday morning, some locations may receive over a foot of snow.These harsh weather conditions will improve on Wednesday morning for western Upper Michigan. For central and eastern areas, the threat finally diminishes later on Wednesday afternoon.
