MARQUETTE -- The Northern Michigan Theatre Department is putting on a show with puppets, but it's not for kids. Avenue Q The Musical begins January 24 at the Black Box Theatre on NMU's campus.

The show is similar to Sesame Street, but it deals with adult material. It's about a college grad who moves to New York City and struggles to find what to do next in his life. During Thursday's rehearsal, we caught up with a member of the cast.

"In the end it comes down to a message about giving and kindness to others and selflessness and sort of those themes from Sesame Street that everybody used to learn when they were much, much smaller," said Rod, a character in Avenue Q.

The show runs January 24 through 26 at 7:30 p.m. On the 25th and 26th, they will also hold special midnight shows. Tickets are five dollars for general admission. Again, Avenue Q is for adults only.
