MARQUETTE -- After Marquette Alternative High School collected 2,900 pairs of socks for people in need, their Rock the Socks fundraiser is branching out to the campus of Northern Michigan University.
This Saturday, students are asking people who plan on attending the NMU hockey game to donate a pair of unused socks. The socks you bring will be thrown onto the ice during chuck a puck.
MAHS says this is a great way to get more people within the community involved in their Rock the Socks fundraiser.
"It's just something to show that we're just trying to do something to help the community," said MAHS teacher Matt Brintlinger. "I just think that's the important part."
Socks donated at this Saturday's game will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Marquette.
