MARQUETTE -- The Northern Michigan University hockey team is set for their annual silent auction on Friday. Members of the Wildcat team have signed some memorabilia that will be part of the auction. Local businesses have also donated items. The money raised goes to help the Wildcats pay for yearly expenses like travel, equipment and recruiting.

"We really appreciate the support from the community. By them coming and showing a good support for us and spending their money on these items and stuff like that, they're helping Northern, they're helping the hockey program, and we really appreciate it, can't say enough," said NMU Assistant Coach John Kyle.

The auction begins at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Berry Events Center. That's one half hour before the Wildcats take on the Lake Superior State University Lakers. Bidding for the auction goes until the end of the second intermission. The winners will be posted in the Wildcat Room.
