ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP -- The Westwood Shakespeare Company has one final performance of the classic Othello this Wednesday night. The company consists of Westwood High school students who've been working on this play all semester. The play deals with issues of racism, jealousy, and women's rights. The cast has worked hard to make the work of Shakespeare more accessible.

"They find within a week or two that the language really isn't that big a problem because they start to understand the character, they know what he would say, and then it's just a slight turn of phrase and it really is in modern English," said B.G. Bradley, Director of the Westwood Shakespeare Company. "I mean why in the world wouldn't we have kids on stage doing the words of the greatest writer that ever lived? Why would we stay away from him if he is difficult? Then he's probably worthwhile, and he is!"

The play starts at 7 p.m. at the Westwood Auditorium. Tickets are $7 for the public, $5 for students. Othello does contain mature subject matter, and some scenes may be inappropriate for younger audiences.
