CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP -- One house in Chocolay Township is opening up its doors for people to view a collection of nativity scenes. For nearly 30 years, the Margrif family has been collecting nativity scenes in a variety of forms. The collection features local artists as well as artists from around the world. More than 200 sets are on display, outside and inside the home. Individuals and groups are welcome to come in and see the collection.

"I think it's the story, it is the essence of Christmas, and we don't ever want to forget that. But as we look at how it's portrayed by different artists from different countries, it is very fascinating how they perceive the birth of Christ," said Carol Margrif, the owner of the collection.

Donations are encouraged; all the money will go to Habitat for Humanity. The Margrifs will also have cookies and refreshments during their open house. They say to allow yourself at least an hour to view the nativity collection.

The Margrifs live at 128 Timberlane in Chocolay Township. Those open houses are from 6 to 9 p.m. this Friday and Sunday.
