ISHPEMING -- Planning and fundraising for Finn Fun Day is underway.

The Upper Peninsula chapter of the League of Finnish American Societies held their first bake sale fundraiser on Thursday. It took place at the Ishpeming Community Federal Credit Union. The fundraiser is to help raise money for the upcoming annual Finn Fun Day.

They started at 10 a.m. with two tables packed with cakes, cookies, bread, cheese, and many Finnish foods. The tables were nearly empty in only a couple of hours.

"The community support has been here," said LFAS U.P. Chapter President Ronald Hill. "This is probably the best bake sale I have ever been to, because basically everything has been sold."

The U.P. chapter of the LFAS raised about $400 for Finn Fun Day. The annual celebration is scheduled for August 25 in Negaunee.
