MARQUETTE -- On Saturday, teachers were the ones taking notes in a yoga workshop at Superior Hills Elementary School in Marquette.

Teachers came from as far as Escanaba to attend the Yoga Calm for Children class. The Yoga Calm for Children is intended to engage students' mind, body, and soul toward learning.

The workshop teaches K-12 teachers and counselors how to integrate fitness into the learning process.

Faculties who are already implementing it say their students like the new addition to their curriculum.

"The kids are practicing the things that they are learning on a daily basis," says school social worker, Mercedes Turino. "They've been very receptive to it. There’s a lot more acceptance and support among the students."

Teachers here will attend three more programs before becoming certified to teach yoga to their students.
