MARQUETTE -- Northern Michigan University is using its Wi-Max technology to reach out to classrooms across Marquette County.
NMU Professor of Ceramics, Brian Kakas, was teaching students in Gwinn and Negaunee High School about advanced techniques in pottery. The idea for this program came from President Obama's trip to NMU that highlighted the technology at work in Upper Michigan.
"We bring these really innovative ideas from some of the top artists, who we have working here at NMU teaching, into local high schools," said Art Education Professor Mike Letts.
The lesson taught at Gwinn and Negaunee was done using materials the classrooms already had. NMU hopes to continue and expand their use of this technology and allow students across Upper Michigan to stay connected and learn from a distance.
